Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Epic, Meditech, or EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Manage patient records accurately, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Handle medical billing and collections efficiently, including coding procedures with CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and processing payments via electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to health and safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service at the front desk by answering phones with professional etiquette, managing appointment scheduling, and addressing patient inquiries promptly.
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports with 10 key accuracy, and managing health information using Microsoft Office tools.
Experience
- Prior clinic experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD), and medical billing processes.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth is essential.
- Experience with health insurance processes including Medicare claims and understanding of health insurance policies.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated clerical skills including phone communication, medical scheduling, document review, and office management tasks.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
