The Village of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, is seeking a part-time Municipal Clerk (approx. 20 hours/week). Ideal candidates will manage front-office customer service, process utility billing and permits, respond to citizen inquiries, and assist residents directly and via phone. Position Overview
The Village of Cedar Bluffs (pop. ~700) is looking for a dependable, organized professional to join the village administration team. This role is essential to the day-to-day operations of the Village Hall, serving as one of the primary points of contact for residents.
Role & Responsibilities
As the first point of contact for the Village, you will keep the office running smoothly by taking on the following duties:
- Customer Service: Answer incoming phone calls, greet visitors, and assist citizens with municipal inquiries.
- Utility Billing: Process monthly utility payments, answer billing questions, and maintain accurate billing records.
- Permitting: Assist residents and contractors with processing and issuing local permits and licenses.
- General Office Duties: Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, mail processing, and managing office supplies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related fields preferred).
- 1-2 years of administrative, bookkeeping, or municipal clerk experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (experience with gWorks/FrontDesk is a plus).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Must have a Valid Nebraska Driver’s License
- Must be able to obtain a Nebraska Pool Operator’s License
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours: 25 hours per week or less (Hours will be primarily Monday - Friday, regular business hours, and one evening a month for board meetings)
- Wage: $17.64-25.82
