Overview
Join the Purple Roots Filipino Restaurant culinary team as a Kitchen Porter, where your hard work, attention to cleanliness, and ability to support a fast-paced kitchen will help keep daily operations running smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen, assisting with essential back-of-house tasks, and supporting the culinary team during service. We are looking for a motivated and dependable team member who takes pride in their work, works well under pressure, and enjoys being part of a collaborative kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Keep kitchen floors, workstations, dish areas, and other back-of-house areas clean and sanitary
- Take out trash and recycling and maintain clean, organized trash areas
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and properly storing deliveries
- Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed throughout service
- Assist with basic food preparation and other kitchen tasks as directed by the culinary team
- Support the kitchen team during high-volume service to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety guidelines
- Assist with opening and closing cleaning procedures
- Communicate effectively with chefs and kitchen team members regarding supplies, cleaning needs, and other kitchen operations
Experience
- Previous kitchen porter, dishwasher, or professional kitchen experience preferred
- Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness and organization
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices is a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a positive attitude
- Ability to take initiative and identify tasks that need to be completed
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
