Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Technician to support our endoscopy department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in gastroenterology procedures, patient care, and technical proficiency with endoscopic equipment. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will assist physicians during endoscopic examinations, ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, and maintain high standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Prepare endoscopy suites by ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile, functional, and ready for procedures.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and upper gastrointestinal examinations by handling instruments and providing necessary support.
- Reprocess endoscopes following aseptic techniques to prevent infection transmission, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization protocols.
- Support patient positioning, comfort, and education before, during, and after procedures to promote a positive experience.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies during procedures with appropriate interventions such as basic life support if needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, equipment maintenance, and patient interactions in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal diagnostic evaluation through precise handling of medical imaging tools and understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to gastrointestinal procedures.
Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in gastroenterology or endoscopy is highly desirable; relevant certifications are preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the gastrointestinal tract and understanding of physiology principles essential for assisting in diagnostic evaluations.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) or equivalent is required to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to gastrointestinal health and endoscopic techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform endoscope reprocessing accurately while adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Technical proficiency with endoscopic surgical assistance tools, medical imaging devices, and related equipment.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach towards individuals undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
