Job Summary:
The Shipping Lead I plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of outgoing goods within a food production and distribution facility. This position ensures compliance with food safety standards, monitors inventory movements, supports logistical planning, and assists in leading a team of Shipping staff. The role requires attention to detail, organization, and a strong understanding of food handling and storage regulations and plays a critical role in getting our products to our customers safely and on time.
Essential Functions:
Shipping Operations:
- Lead end-to-end shipping operations from order verification to final delivery
- Ensure accurate execution of our ERP workflows (V18 & NetSuite) for all outbound shipments
- Oversee final packing standards: proper ice pack placement, void filling, and secure seal-ing. and ensuring integrity of boxes, avoiding deformations that can affect shipping charges
- Coordinate with Production, Fulfillment, Quality Control and Logistics to meet daily shipping targets
- Verify quantities, documentation, and quality standards before every box leaves our facility
Document Control & Accuracy:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions using warehouse management sys-tems
- Maintain complete and accurate shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, driver delivery report and any other documents that meet the requirements of proof of delivery for all company shipments
- Ensure all shipping information is being transmitted from warehouse management systems to run the automatic billing process properly
Collaboration with other Departments:
- Address and resolve shipping issues promptly and report any discrepancies to senior management
- Assist with shipping reconciliation to resolve shipping/billing discrepancies
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in the shipping and documentation process
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
- Familiarity with food safety and handling regulations
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and experience with inventory management systems.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Strong knowledge documentation requirements, and ERP/WMS systems.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
