Job Summary
Join our dynamic veterinary team as an RVT, experienced Technician / Kennel Attendant or Vet Assistant, where your passion for animal care and veterinary support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this role, you will provide exceptional animal care, assist with medical procedures, and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all animals in our care. Your expertise will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering top-tier medical services while promoting compassionate pet care.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of being a veterinary technician including assisting in surgery, spending time in exam rooms with the doctors, presenting and discussing treatment plans with owners.
- Venipuncture, running in-house lab equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms and surgical suites to uphold aseptic techniques and prevent infections.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions and protocols.
- Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, with confidence, demonstrating strong animal handling skills. (experience with exotics a plus!)
- Support veterinary technicians with laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostics.
- Monitor animal behavior and physiological signs.
- May be cross-trained to help with front desk responsibilities including appointment scheduling, client communication, and maintaining detailed medical records.
- Assist with specialized procedures such as animal catheterization or other veterinary techniques requiring technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Proven veterinary experience with a solid understanding of animal practices.
- Previous veterinary clinic experience is highly preferred, especially in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures.
- Skilled in animal restraint techniques for various species including dogs and horses.
- Ability to administer medications accurately and perform basic medical procedures under supervision.
- Experience with pet care routines such as feeding, cleaning, grooming, and monitoring post-operative recovery.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Certification or training in veterinary assisting or related fields is a plus; equine experience is advantageous but not required.
