Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs using current physiology and anatomy knowledge.
- Develop and implement tailored care plans focusing on improving clients’ functional abilities, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility.
- Deliver specialized pediatric occupational therapy for children with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder, utilizing evidence-based techniques.
- Assist patients with manual handling techniques during treatment sessions to ensure safety and effective therapy outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and caregivers to coordinate care strategies.
- Document all care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain detailed care documentation for ongoing treatment evaluation.
- Support patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Educate clients and caregivers on therapy goals, progress, and home exercises to promote continued improvement outside clinical settings.
- Utilize medical imaging reports and medical terminology effectively to inform treatment planning when applicable.
- Provide occupational therapy services across various environments including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health settings.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapist from an accredited program with current licensure or registration where required.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational therapy techniques relevant to diverse client needs.
- Experience in acute care settings, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities or home health is highly desirable.
- Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while demonstrating manual handling skills for safe patient care.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients of all ages and collaborating with healthcare teams and caregivers.
- Familiarity with medical imaging reports and treatment plan implementation within multidisciplinary approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in fast-paced healthcare environments.
