The Medical Assistant will assist the health care providers with patient care in an office setting with an emphasis on health promotion and health education, including direct patient care, documentation via the EMR, minor laboratory testing and preparation, and communication with patients, health care providers, pharmacies, and vendors by performing the duties listed below. The MA will work cohesively with the physicians to support the providers patient schedule, while ensuring optimal patient care is delivered. They will follow company policy and procedure to help promote safe practices for both the patients and the staff.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
- Prepares patients for examinations.
- Takes medical histories.
- Assists the Physician during examinations.
- Explains medical procedures to patients.
- Collects laboratory specimens.
- Sterilizes medical instruments.
- Update’s patient files.
- Obtains Patient’s Vital Signs.
- Maintain Company Compliance training.

Language Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Temperament: Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.

Additional hours may be required to complete tasks.
Active work environment- frequently moving between departments.
Potential risk of bloodborne and airborne pathogen exposure if proper general precautions are not used with patients.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software and multiple medical office systems and EMR’s.
Educations/Experience:
Associates degree (A.A/A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and/or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
