JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: LINE and PREP COOK
SUPERVISOR: HEAD CHEF/SOUS CHEF
Job Summary: This position is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to menu specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs multiple tasks.
- Ensures timely completion of prep list.
- Ensures quality and visual presentation of food.
- Assist with special events.
- Checks in with Sous Chef or Chef for instructions.
- Sets up pantry or applicable stations and follows daily “to-do” lists.
- Maintains and breaks down prep areas.
- Notifies Sous Chef or Chef of expected shortages.
- Informs Sous Chef or Chef of any items that were not completed.
- Operates various kitchen equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Covers, dates, and neatly stores food items.
- Reports unsafe conditions in the kitchen and suggests possible solutions to hazards.
- Prepares raw ingredients into finished product, per specifications.
- Must have a keen sense of taste and smell.
- Performs daily preparation of food.
- Puts away stock and must restock stations.
- Maintains work areas for cleanliness according to health Department specifications and follows a “clean as you work” policy.
- Maintains personal hygiene and uniform.
Qualifications
- Requires completion of a high school education or equivalent general education degree (GED) plus 2 years job related or similar industry experience.
- Requires extended periods of standing and walking.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently exposed to cooking fumes and handles toxic chemicals.
- Requires satisfactory verbal communication skills.
- Requires the ability to work as a contributing member of the team.
- Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with Team
Members.
- Requires the ability to analyze situations, identify and troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
- Requires the ability to function in a fast paced environment.
- Requires the ability to work rapidly for long periods.
- Requires the ability to read and comprehend written materials, write in grammatically correct sentences, and perform basic to intermediate mathematical computations.
- Requires the ability to take direction, communicate and execute team and company objectives.
- Requires the ability to work independently.
- Requires satisfactory credit and criminal history.
