Duties
- Direct vehicular traffic and assist pedestrians at designated crosswalks to ensure safe crossing experiences.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust positioning to maintain optimal safety for all users.
- Enforce compliance with traffic laws, safety protocols, and environmental regulations such as the Clean Water Act and Stormwater Management standards.
- Communicate clearly with drivers and pedestrians using effective signage, hand signals, and verbal instructions.
- Complete incident reports, shift logs, and safety documentation accurately and promptly.
- Participate in permitting phases involving environmental law compliance projects and regulatory permitting processes.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to ensure personal safety during outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Skills
- Knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocol adherence, and traffic control safety protocols.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards related to outdoor work environments and safety procedures.
- Basic first aid skills including CPR, vital signs assessment, and emergency response capabilities.
- Understanding of environmental regulatory compliance such as EPA regulations, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Air Permitting requirements.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with the public, colleagues, and emergency responders.
- Ability to document incidents clearly through writing skills and maintain detailed records of compliance activities.
- Experience in outdoor work environments with an emphasis on stormwater management and environmental permitting processes.
