Duties
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with seating arrangements, ensuring a smooth and welcoming introduction to the dining experience
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, processing sales transactions efficiently
- Provide detailed menu descriptions, including wine pairings and spirits recommendations, to enhance guest enjoyment
- Serve food and beverages with precision, including cocktail mixing, wine pouring, and beverage service that meets fine dining standards
- Upsell menu items and specials to maximize sales while ensuring guest preferences are prioritized
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by bussing tables, resetting dining areas promptly, and adhering to food safety protocols
- Handle cash transactions accurately, process payments via POS systems like OpenTable or other platforms, and provide correct change or receipts
- Assist with food preparation tasks when needed, supporting kitchen staff in maintaining high-quality standards
- Engage with guests professionally to foster positive guest relations and address any concerns promptly
- Support overall restaurant operations by collaborating with team members to ensure seamless service delivery
Skills
- Extensive experience with fine dining service environments and a strong understanding of restaurant operations
- Proficiency in POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, or similar platforms for order entry and sales processing
- Knowledge of wine varieties, spirits, cocktail mixing techniques, and beverage service best practices
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to connect authentically with guests from diverse backgrounds
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tables efficiently during busy periods
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently while respecting guest preferences
- Basic math skills for processing payments accurately and managing cash handling responsibilities
- Food safety certification knowledge along with sanitation practices in food handling and serving areas
- Previous experience in food industry roles such as host/hostess or busser is advantageous but not required; a hospitality mindset is essential
- Effective communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with kitchen staff and fellow servers
