Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist
All Family Care is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent patient care while assisting with clinical and administrative duties and performing blood draws and specimen collection.
We are looking for someone who is professional, friendly, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and provide a welcoming, professional experience.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with routine clinical procedures.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary/finger-stick blood collection accurately and safely.
- Verify patient identification and laboratory orders before collecting specimens.
- Properly label, process, store, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Monitor patients during and after blood draws and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Follow infection-control, safety, and OSHA standards at all times.
- Dispose of needles and biohazardous materials according to established safety procedures.
- Enter and maintain accurate patient information, laboratory results, and clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR).
- Assist physicians and other clinical staff with patient care and procedures as needed.
- Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office.
- Answer phones, assist patients with questions, schedule appointments, and perform other front-office duties as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Monitor and restock medical and phlebotomy supplies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the medical center and patient-care team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant and/or Phlebotomy program preferred.
- Previous medical office, clinical, or phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred and may be required based on applicable state requirements.
- CPR/BLS certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture and specimen-handling procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Compassionate and professional bedside manner.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy medical-center environment.
