Job Purpose:
- The Child Psychiatrist at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER will provide specialized mental health care to children and adolescents. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and helping prevent mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in young patients. The psychiatrist will work closely with families and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans that promote mental well-being and support the developmental needs of children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that may include psychotherapy, medication management, and other therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, and pediatricians, to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Provide consultation and education to families regarding their child's mental health condition and treatment options.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in child psychiatry to incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and continuing education activities to maintain professional competency.
- Advocate for the mental health needs of children within the community and contribute to public awareness efforts.
Required Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency in Psychiatry.
- Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Child Psychiatrist post-fellowship.
- Proven track record of working effectively with children and adolescents in a clinical setting.
- Experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and psychopathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and other healthcare technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest research and practices in child psychiatry.
