JOB SUMMARY:
The EHR Application Analyst is dedicated to assisting WCHC staff and providers with technical and navigational EHR support to decrease workload, increase efficiency, and improve patient and staff satisfaction. The EHR Application Analyst identifies, researches, and resolves technical issues, coordinates with internal and external teams identifies opportunities for system performance improvements, identifies knowledge and workflow gaps, and supports system users, in person and remotely.
The EHR Application Analyst performs system maintenance, configuration, testing, and elements of training to enhance system design modifications, clinical workflow engagement, and strengthen user acceptance of features and functionality of EHR software. The EHR Support Analyst collaborates with clinical, operational, and administrative teams from all WCHC sites to help users adopt features and modules, solve technical and workflow problems, and deliver excellent service to end users. The EHR Analyst provides support for continuous process improvement, analyzes workflows to assess user knowledge and behavior and use of features and functionality of EHR. The EHR Application Analyst partners with the EHR Training Team to support training of all staff in EHR.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and troubleshoot application issues as they occur, own the problem and seeing it through to full resolution. Issues that require additional assistance will be escalated to the appropriate team or EHR vendor.
- Maintain EHR system setup, such as the provider and staff profiles, printers, security, preferences, practice roles, TextMacro’s, Encounter Plans, Order sets, build letters and others.
- Assists with onboarding/offboarding processes in regards to any Clinical Informatics applications, such as AthenaOne, patient communication tools, and any external EHR portals (Sutter, Providence, etc.).
- Follows change requests through life cycle; Interviews customers for change requirements, submits change request to appropriate teams, and tests build changes to ensure request was completed as submitted, submit back to requestor for final validation, champion the request/change to the EHR production environment.
- Assists in liaising to EHR vendor, RCHC, local hospitals, pharmacies, labs, and other clinical entities. This includes attending collaborative meetings, trainings’, conferences, and advisory workgroups to optimize use of the system, collaborating with internal WCHC operations.
- Participate in EHR Core Team and workgroups for implementation and ongoing use of EHR, contributing to strategic planning of EMR and related systems.
- Uses data for decision making and identifying system improvements
- In partnership with EHR training team, maintain curriculum and resource guides for care teams including accurate documentation and role-based workflows.
- Uses internal ticketing system to manage requests and external case system to ensure clinical support is provided timely and tracked to resolution.
- Support superuser development across sites, departments and programs to provide daily support to EHR users through troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting.
- Collaborates with data, population health, compliance, and other teams to ensure accurate reporting to track clinical metrics, assess EHR use, ensure accurate documentation, and meet auditing needs. Including reconciling lists as needed.
- Stays current on WCHC EHR workflows and trainings, with continued education and learning of EHR environment and related applications and hardware.
- Reviews the monthly and quarterly EHR release notes and shares relevant updates with the affected teams, including presenting on these updates at appropriate WCHC forums.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years experience working in a health care setting
- Experience working in healthcare electronic health record systems (AthenaOne preferred)
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and HIPAA policies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work independently and with a team, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing E-learning material or training manuals.
- Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team and with people with a variety of background and educational levels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
- Ability to bend and move arms with sufficient range of motion to complete patient related requirements, hearing required for patient assessments, may need to assist patients, able to lift and carry 30lbs., bend, kneel, and twist as needed.
- Prolonged standing and occasional sitting required.
- Ability to use computers, tablets, apple products and medical equipment as needed.
- Reliable transportation for travel between sites as needed.
