Electrical BIM Modeler / Drafter
Location: New York City, NY
Salary: $65,000–$95,000 per year, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Live Wire Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical BIM Modeler / Drafter to join our NYC team. This position will support our project management, engineering, estimating, and field teams by developing accurate electrical drawings, coordinated BIM models, shop drawings, and construction documents for commercial electrical projects throughout New York City.
We are looking for someone who understands electrical construction, not simply drafting. The ideal candidate can take contract drawings and field information and turn them into coordinated, buildable drawings that our electricians and project teams can use in the field.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Develop and maintain electrical BIM models and coordinated shop drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Prepare electrical power, lighting, fire alarm, branch circuit, feeder, equipment, and distribution layouts.
- Develop coordinated conduit routing, equipment layouts, electrical rooms, risers, and details.
- Participate in BIM coordination and clash-detection processes with other trades.
- Review architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical contract drawings for coordination.
- Incorporate RFIs, ASIs, bulletins, approved submittals, and field conditions into drawings and models.
- Produce construction/shop drawings for field installation and prefabrication.
- Coordinate directly with project managers, foremen, general contractors, engineers, and other trades.
- Maintain drawing revisions and BIM documentation throughout the project.
- Assist with as-built and closeout drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD required.
- Navisworks experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with electrical construction drawings and BIM coordination strongly preferred.
- Ability to read electrical one-lines, risers, panel schedules, equipment schedules, and construction documents.
- NYC commercial construction experience is a major plus.
- Knowledge of NYC electrical construction practices, DOB requirements, and NEC requirements is preferred.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple active projects and deadlines.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $95,000 annually, depending on electrical construction knowledge, BIM/Revit proficiency, and overall experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work closely with an electrical contractor and see their drawings go directly from the BIM environment into actual field installation.
