ACS PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LIAISON
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teacher education or youth development degree from an accredited educational institution preferred.
- Holds State of Alabama Teacher or Counselor Licensure preferred.
- Community outreach experience and working with diverse populations.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of parental engagement strategies and community relations. Skills in oral and written communication. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with, teachers, families, community members, and community agency representatives. Ability to organize and manage time. Knowledge of available supports to assist parents and community members in building strong bonds and collaborative relationships with ACS. Ability to operate a computer and utilize software applications related to assignment. Ability to schedule time, prioritize and work efficiently. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

J OB GOAL
To improve local relationships (or partnerships) through community engagement stategies, that will strengthen connections between stakeholders and school district staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* 1. Assists students, staff, teachers, parents and community members (e.g. applications for services, interpreting technical information, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or conveying information and other services required by parents or teachers.
* 2. Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable with program guidelines.
* 3. Facilitate new students entering the district and provide assistance as needed to help parents complete registration and enrollment processes.
* 4. Facilitate the collection of paperwork and documentation needed by the schools.
* 5. Coordinate and present, as needed, Parent Education sessions to inform families about district policies, services and community resources.
* 6. Assist counselors with college and test information sessions for parents and students
* 7. Work collaboratively with the Director of Student Services, Title I Teachers and ESL Teachers to build partnerships with International companies for the benefit of immigrant families and students.
* 8. Create and maintain an email account.
* 9. Plan and coordinate events designed to inform and engage parents, community members and local agencies.
*10. Provide assistance to families.
*11. Other activities relevant and mutually agreed upon by the consultant and Federal Programs Coordinator.
*12. Maintain confidentiality related to all school and student interractions and student records.
*13. Provide monthly reports to Federal Program Coordinator of activities for the previous month on the first day of every month.
*14. Collaborate with the ESL Liaisons to present classes and information to parents as needed..
*15. ACS will provide necessary supplies, which may include a laptop or I-pad.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is a contracted position. As such, compensation will be based on a set annual amount to be paid in 12 equal installments. The amount will be agreed upon in a contract each year and subject to available funding.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
