Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and maintaining proper storage conditions to ensure medication integrity.
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software systems with precision while verifying patient information and medication details.
- Assist patients with medication inquiries, provide excellent customer service, and support patient education efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, medical terminology standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital or community pharmacy policies on data security.
- Support the pharmacy team with drug regulation updates, pharmacological medical terminology understanding, and aseptic technique procedures for sterile preparations.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, or community pharmacy settings.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation, and medical terminology relevant to acute care and critical care environments.
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes for accurate medication management.
- Skilled in IV compounding, sterile IV admixture procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterile IV infusion preparation.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations, including medication administration protocols and hospital experience requirements.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate complex pharmacological information clearly.
- Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and pharmaceutical compliance standards necessary for safe medication dispensing.
