POSITION: Spanish Teacher (1 Year Leave of Absence)
REPORTS TO: Director of Language Learning and Services
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in content area
- Illinois Teaching License
OVERALL JOB DUTIES:
General:
- Demonstrate a commitment to social justice, equity, excellence and high expectations for all
students and commitment to each student’s academic and personal well-being.
- Establish and manage student learning in a safe, positive, and respectful learning community
in the classroom.
- Know the content and current thinking specific to the discipline and engage students in using
the skills, habits, and tools essential to the discipline/content.
- Plan and implement instruction that draws upon a large repertoire of strategies in order to
address the range of student needs and learning styles.
- Assess student progress, analyze results, and adapt instruction to improve student
achievement.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth by reflecting on practice,
collaborating with colleagues, and monitoring own learning.
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism.
Specific to Department:
- Experience and knowledge in current world languages methodology, pedagogy and
assessments.
- Be ready to teach all levels, from first year through Advanced Placement.
- Knowledge in differentiating instruction for students with varying levels of Spanish
proficiency within the same classroom.
- Able and willing to organize and chaperone field trips and/or exchanges.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department to implement, adapt and improve
existing curriculum.
