Direct care staffs are valued members of the ICF/DD-N team. As the eyes and ears of the facility, they are vital to the success of the facility and its clients. DCSs are responsible for meeting the needs of the clients by providing direct care and supervision, positive behavioral support. DCSs are responsible for the safety of the clients, protection of clients’ rights, and maintenance of a living environment that is clean and homelike.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Observe clients and report any medical or behavior changes to administrator and/or RN
- Knowledge of each client’s medications, dosage, purpose, and where to obtain
information regarding possible side effects
- Assist with dispensing clients’ medications
- Record clients’ medications on log
- Supervise clients’ activities
- Assist in preparation of three meals a day, and snacks as indicated, on weekly menu plan
- Assist clients with housekeeping/laundry
- Assist clients with changing linens and towels, and with cleaning their bedroom
- Maintain sanitary condition of facility and its contents
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Assist clients in locating needed community services and resources
- Attend all in-service-, continuing-education-, and attendant-trainings as scheduled by the facility administrator
- Communicate with oncoming shift to ensure continuity of client-care between shifts
- Report any signs of client’s change in condition to QIDP
Qualifications:
- First aid and CPR certified (with abdominal thrust technique)
- Criminal fingerprint cleared by FBI/DOJ
- Licensed to drive in California is preferred; with clean DMV record
- Current health screening and TB clearance
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Good physical health, and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks
- Knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation principles
- Knowledge of good nutrition, food preparation, storage, and menu planning
- Knowledge of how to recognize signs of illness, and the need for medical intervention
- Knowledge of community resources
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
