Overview
As a part-time Pediatric Medical Assistant at Integrative Health Carolinas (IHC), your role is vital in delivering holistic and integrative pediatric care. You'll work in a supportive clinical setting that blends conventional medicine with evidence-based complementary therapies to support each child’s whole health.
We are looking for a Medical Assistant with pediatric experience (ideally in primary or urgent care) who is passionate about wellness, natural medicine, and family-centered care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a balanced, mission-driven position in a collaborative environment.
Clinic hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Medical Assistants are expected to arrive by 8:30 AM and stay until 5:30 PM for setup and closing tasks. Work days for this role are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with occasional Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients; record height, weight, blood pressure, and heart rate
- Conduct hearing and vision screenings as needed
- Perform fingerstick CBC and administer vaccines; update NCIR and SIMON records
- Complete school, camp, and sports forms with accuracy
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms and toys between visits
- Triage sick calls and assist with scheduling appointments
- Provide supplement education and support for families
- Assist with lab orders (LabCorp and specialty labs)
- Manage medical and vaccine inventory
- Assist in the LDA (Low Dose Allergen) program: scheduling, preparation, shipping, and administration for both local and out-of-state patients
- Submit prior authorizations for prescriptions
- Participate in patient education calls and mindset onboarding via Zoom
- Support patient onboarding calls related to lab processes
- Contribute to monthly live webinars for the clinic
- Engage with our Holistic Baby Guide Facebook page—answering questions, posting content, and going live as needed
- Assist in research and updating holistic guides and educational materials
- Maintain openness to learning and applying integrative and alternative health therapies
- Be flexible, organized, and proactive in supporting daily clinic operations
Qualifications and Requirements
- Recent experience (within the last 5 years) as a Medical Assistant
- Certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) preferred but not required
- Experience in pediatric care or a holistic/functional medicine clinic is a plus
- Knowledge of both conventional medical practices and complementary therapies
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working with children and families in a wellness-focused environment
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Zoom (or willingness to learn)
- Positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and strong attention to detail
