We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Optician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical experince, vision care plans, claim submission, lensometry, billing and more. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, submitting glasses claims, cutting lenses for patient orders in house, assisting with eyewear selection, and supporting clinical staff in a fast-paced medical environment.
A stong team attidue is necessary as you will be working with another optician.
Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to vision care. Prior experience in retail sales, laboratory work, or medical billing is highly desirable. Duties
- Submit glasses claims and receive jobs from the lab
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Crystal PM, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage optical inventory, including ordering supplies and laboratory work for lens fabrication
- Cut and Edge Lenses for glasses
- Process billing and coding related to vision services and eyewear sales
- Provide excellent customer service in retail settings by promoting eyewear products and accessories
Qualifications
- Prior experience in optical settings or ophthalmology clinics preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to vision health, and vital signs measurement
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Crystal PM or similar platforms
- Experience with laboratory procedures, medical billing, coding, and HIPAA compliance is advantageous
- Strong retail sales skills with an understanding of retail math and management principles is a plus
- Ability to communicate complex medical information clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records and inventory management
- Certification or training in opticianry or related fields is preferred but not required
