Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management and aseptic technique standards
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties
- Take and develop dental X-ray images while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical documentation
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary to support comprehensive patient care
- Follow strict dental sterilization procedures for instruments and maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical records management is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention and control expertise
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Knowledge of, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry practices
- Certification in X-ray safety and proficiency in taking dental x-rays; experience with 3D scanners is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures using clear medical terminology to patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive medical information effectively
