Patriot EMS is hiring Patient Transportation Drivers for our Gwinnett County mobility division based in Sugar Hill, Georgia.
This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, patient, safety-minded, and comfortable helping people who may need extra assistance getting to and from medical appointments, facilities, and other approved destinations. Our drivers play an important role in making sure clients are treated with dignity, arrive safely, and receive reliable service every step of the way.
Position Overview
Patient Transportation Drivers are responsible for transporting ambulatory and wheelchair clients in a safe, professional, and respectful manner. This is a hands-on service position that requires strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to follow dispatch instructions and company procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles while transporting clients throughout Gwinnett County and surrounding areas.
- Assist clients from the door to the vehicle and from the vehicle to their destination when appropriate.
- Properly operate wheelchair lifts and secure wheelchairs and mobility devices according to training and safety standards.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and dispatch instructions.
- Communicate professionally with clients, caregivers, facilities, dispatch, and supervisors.
- Complete trip documentation accurately and report any delays, incidents, vehicle concerns, or service issues.
- Perform vehicle checks before and during shifts to help ensure the assigned vehicle is clean, safe, and ready for service.
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and compassionate attitude when working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, and patients with varying mobility needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Clean and acceptable driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and DOT physical.
- Professional appearance and dependable attendance.
- Ability to assist with wheelchair securement and perform occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable using mobile dispatch tools and following written and verbal instructions.
Preferred, But Not Required
- CPR or First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in non-emergency medical transportation, EMS, healthcare, senior care, paratransit, or professional driving.
- Familiarity with Gwinnett County roads, medical facilities, and traffic patterns.
