Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in supervising daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management
- Lead and motivate sales associates to meet or exceed sales targets through effective coaching, training, and performance management
- Manage employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training to ensure team members are knowledgeable about products, policies, and customer service standards
- Oversee recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing candidates to build a strong retail sales team
- Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping, and inventory control to maintain accurate records and optimize stock levels
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and operational procedures
- Support marketing initiatives and merchandising strategies to enhance store presentation and drive sales growth
Skills
- Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within the retail industry with a focus on sales team management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and communicate managerial expectations clearly
- Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication abilities
- Proficiency in POS (Point of Sale) systems, inventory management software, and basic math for cash handling, pricing, and sales calculations
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Skilled in negotiation, purchasing, budgeting, and operational management to maximize profitability
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, interviewing, training & development, and employee orientation processes
- Knowledge of retail math principles such as stocking levels, pricing strategies, and sales analysis
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively across shift management duties
- Familiarity with grocery store or wireless sales environments is advantageous for specific product knowledge requirements
