Job Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification) is responsible for the comprehensive care of orthopedic surgery patients per established clinical protocols. Evaluates and assesses patients, coordinates education and plan for care in both inpatient , surgical and/or outpatient setting. Works in collaboration and is a liaison between patients, families, physicians and health care services and community service providers. The APP works under the supervision of the physician.
Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) shall provide compassionate, comprehensive management of our patients according to privileges approved by the Medical Staff Office and established clinical protocols in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Advanced Practice Provider manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP shall work under the supervision of a physician.
Minimum Education Requirement: Graduate of an accreditation review commission on the Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved Physician Assistant training program.
OR
Completion Graduate of a master's prepared Nurse Practitioner program. Completion of a RNFA program that meets the Association of PeriOperative Room Nurses (AORN) educational standards.
Minimum Experience Requirement: Previous oncology, surgical or acute care advanced practice experience strongly preferred.
Minimum License Requirement: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the WV Board of Medicine with a certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
OR
Current license as a Nurse Practitioner from the West Virginia Board of Nursing. Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Certification in perioperative nurse (CNOR) required.
Must be credentialed according to Mon Health's Medical Staff By-Laws and appointed as Allied Health Professional Affiliate Staff. Must possess or obtain basic life support (BLS) certification within the probationary period and maintain certification. Must possess or obtain advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) within one year of employment start and maintain certification.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions: Heavy Work; Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Previous experience in a surgical setting strongly preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support; Basic Life Support
- Current Federal and WV Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate.
- Must be credentialed according to Mon Health's Medical Staff By-Laws and appointed as Allied Health Professional Affiliate Staff.
