Position Overview
The Materials Handler is a key member of the Materials, Shipping, and Receiving team and serves in a hybrid office and warehouse role. This position is responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory records, processing transactions in SAP, preparing shipping documentation, and supporting daily warehouse operations.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both at a computer and on the warehouse floor. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer proficiency are essential. The position requires frequent interaction with production personnel, truck drivers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials and finished goods.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Process shipping and receiving transactions in SAP.
- Pick, create, and post customer orders and deliveries.
- Scan Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping documents, and receiving paperwork into company systems.
- Attach shipping and receiving documentation to deliveries and maintain accurate electronic records.
- File and maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation.
- Monitor and respond to emails related to shipping, receiving, inventory, and customer orders.
- Receive, inspect, unload, and organize incoming raw materials and packaging supplies.
- Prepare, stage, and load outbound shipments accurately and on schedule.
- Generate shipping paperwork including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and other required documentation.
- Ensure receiving paperwork is processed and entered into SAP on the same day materials arrive.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Follow and enforce FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management practices.
- Coordinate bulk raw material unloading activities and communicate delivery schedules.
- Conduct railroad movement.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and storage locations.
- Handle hazardous materials in accordance with company procedures and use required PPE.
- Support production and warehouse operations as needed to ensure customer and plant requirements are met.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and general computer applications.
- SAP experience preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to work both in an office environment and on the warehouse floor.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules when required.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
