About This Role:
Lead Educators at Old Dominion Day School play a vital role in teaching students according to our provided curriculum, maintaining an organized classroom, and supervising indoor/outdoor activities. You'll also foster open communication with parents and have the creative freedom to engage students in your unique teaching style through music, art, science, and more.

Reports To:
Center Administration (Administrator, Director, Assistant Director)
Hours:
8-Hour Shift from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM with 1-hour lunches
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Virginia Licensing Standards, maintaining the highest standards of care and safety.
- Implement approved curricula and keep an inspiring, organized classroom where children can thrive.
- Assist with housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and welcoming learning space.
- Foster positive and cordial communication with students, parents, and colleagues, creating a supportive and nurturing atmosphere.
- Attend work punctually and reliably, setting a strong example for fellow colleagues and students.
Education and Experience:
- Basic requirements per Virginia Licensing Standards.
- Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
- Previous teaching or assistant teaching in a licensed childcare setting (Preferred).
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent (Preferred)
- CPR & First Aid Certified (Preferred)
Physical Job Demands:
- Ability to lift approximately 35 pounds as part of regular program duties, child safety, or emergencies.
- Ability to move supplies, books, toys, etc., throughout the building and playground.
- Ability to sit, stand, squat, or kneel for certain periods of time.
