Print Shop Associate (XIs/6th Grade)
Job Description
The Print Shop Associate reports to the M/US Division Director and is an integral part of the C&C print shop program. The children learn how to do letter-press typesetting and print school forms, stationery, holiday cards, and more. The XIs Print Shop Associate works closely with the XIs teachers, finding authentic ways to connect printing understandings to students’ social studies. Our teachers bring warmth, patience, and understanding to the classroom every day, encouraging children to learn and grow.
This position is paid hourly and is approximately 8 hours per week, 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday, excluding holidays and days off from school.
Responsibilities:

Provides instruction to the XIs on how to run the print shop and how to master the intricate workings of the two 1890s Chandler Price Treadle printing presses

Collaborate with XIs teachers to monitor and report general maintenance needs of print shop and printing presses (supply levels, machine maintenance)
- Create lessons for students to build upon their current skill sets and grow their knowledge of printing processes

Support the service the XI’s job provides to the community (Attendance cards, Pop Up Sales, Special Orders, etc.)

Enforce print shop safety and best practices in and around the print shop
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with typesetting and linocut printing
City and Country School offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with level of experience and qualifications, with an hourly rate of $40-$47. This part-time bargaining unit position is in-person four days per week at the school’s campus in Manhattan’s West Village.
