Duties
- Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments with precision and care.
- Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to execute alterations efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure a professional finish that meets industry standards.
- Assess fabric materials and garment construction to determine the best alteration methods for each piece.
- Provide excellent customer service by understanding client needs, explaining alteration options, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the process.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of sewing tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects such as custom apparel production or intricate garment modifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles.
- Proficiency with sewing machines, hand sewing tools, pressing irons, and press operation.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and adjustments accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination for precise stitching and finishing work.
- Customer service skills with a friendly attitude and clear communication abilities.
- Knowledge of men’s wear tailoring, women’s wear tailoring, and custom apparel production is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with various fabric types and understanding their specific handling requirements.
