Role Description
The Institute is currently looking to fill three (3) positions: (1) Staff Attorney - Civil Litigation, (2) Staff Attorney - Civil Litigation Heirship, (3) Staff Attorney Civil Lit - Clean Slate for Juveniles & Adults.
These are full-time, on-site roles located in Houston, TX, for a Civil Litigation Attorney. The attorney will handle tasks such as counseling and representing clients, drafting motions and legal documents, conducting legal research, and preparing for court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and depositions. Additional responsibilities include working collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring compliance with legal procedures, and maintaining client relationships. Candidates should have a strong commitment to social justice and legal advocacy. Primary practice areas include property preservation, probate, heirs' property issues, criminal record clearing and/or juvenile law.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Law and Legal Analysis
- Experience with drafting and filing Motions and other legal documents
- Familiarity with Courts, including procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of Trials and Trial Preparation processes
- Skills in conducting Depositions
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple caseloads
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas
- Experience in civil litigation, preferably in social justice or community-based cases
Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year
