Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern or Registered Social Work Intern to join our dynamic behavioral health team. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mental health counseling, and case management across diverse populations. As an intern, you will work closely with licensed professionals to provide direct support, conduct assessments, and assist in developing individualized treatment plans. Duties
- Support the delivery of individual and group therapy sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, and behavioral therapy.
- Participate in crisis intervention and crisis management efforts to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Help facilitate specialized counseling services such as child & family counseling, grief counseling, addiction counseling, care, and gender issues counseling.
- Contribute to medical documentation by maintaining accurate medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Support case management activities by collecting data for research studies and assisting with behavioral health data collection efforts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on inpatient and outpatient settings, including working with individuals with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, and geriatrics.
Skills
- Strong understanding of psychotherapy techniques and behavioral health interventions.
- Experience or training in motivational interviewing and crisis intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/) for diagnostic evaluation and medical documentation.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and outpatient clinical settings.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, adults, and individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, group facilitation, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic related to mental health care and psychopharmacology is a plus.
