About the Role
We are Enable, an advisory firm supporting early-stage and growth-stage companies. We are hiring a Senior Construction Accountant to embed with one of our clients — a venture-backed, vertically integrated real estate developer and housing manufacturer operating a two-entity (OpCo/PropCo) structure.
This is a hands-on execution role. You will own the accounting function day-to-day, working closely with Enable's fractional CFO and the client's team. If you take pride in getting the numbers right, enjoy working across complex project-based businesses, and want the flexibility of contractor work without sacrificing meaningful engagement, this is built for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing job costing across concurrent construction and manufacturing projects, including cost codes, draw requests, and cost-per-square-foot tracking
- Owning WIP (work-in-progress) accounting and percent-complete revenue recognition (ASC 606 / 605-35 / 970)
- Running multi-entity accounting across an OpCo/PropCo structure — intercompany transactions, consolidations, and financial reporting for both entities
- Tracking manufacturing costs including COGS, overhead allocation, and unit cost analysis across factory and field operations
- Supporting subcontractor management accounting, certified payroll, and draw request processing
- Producing monthly financial statements and reporting packages for leadership
- Working within Sage Intacct integrated with Procore as the primary systems
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years of accounting experience in construction, real estate development, homebuilding, or a closely related field (manufacturing, E&C, infrastructure, or solar/EPC)
- Demonstrated job costing experience across concurrent projects
- Experience with multi-entity accounting structures — intercompany, consolidations, entity-level reporting
- Solid grounding in WIP accounting and percent-complete revenue recognition
- US-based and authorized to work in the United States (hard requirement)
- Comfortable operating as a 1099 independent contractor
Strongly Preferred:
- CPA or equivalent credential
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct, Sage 300 CRE, or Sage Timberline — you must be able to name the company, the module, and how you used it. Sage 300 CRE or Timberline experience is acceptable; Sage Intacct training will be provided.
- Experience with manufacturing cost accounting (COGS, overhead, unit cost)
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction project management software
- Background in real estate development or homebuilding specifically
This role is NOT a fit if:
- Your Sage experience is limited to Sage 50 (a small-business tool — different product entirely)
- You are looking for a CFO or VP Finance role — this is a senior practitioner role reporting to a fractional CFO
- You are not currently US-based and authorized to work here
Why This Works for Contractors
- Fully remote — work from anywhere in the US
- Up to 40 hours/week with potential for ongoing engagement across multiple Enable clients
- You'll be embedded with a real client team doing substantive work, not bench time
- $80–$120/hr paid through Enable as your contracting partner
How to Apply
Send your resume to [email protected] with a brief note covering:
- Which Sage product you've used, at what company, and in what context
- A multi-entity structure you've owned — how many entities and how it was set up
- Which experiences speak to your knowledge around handling inventory and work-in-progress
- Your hourly rate expectation as a 1099 contractor
Applications that answer these four questions will be reviewed first.
Pay: $80.00 - $120.00 per hour
