Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Loading Operator to safely and efficiently load metal roofing/building components onto company and customer trailers using overhead/mobile cranes and forklifts. Responsibilities
- Safely operate sit-down forklift truck, trucks including 1-tons and commerical manual transmission trucks and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipments, smaller components or palletized materials and to move materials within the yard/warehouse
- Operate overhead crane and/or mobile crane to lift and position steel framing, panels, trusses, and other metal building components for loading
- Read and interpret load sheets, bills of lading, and shipping orders to ensure correct materials, quantities, and sequencing are loaded
- Properly secure loads using chains, straps, dunnage, and blocking to meet DOT and company safety standards
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes by verifying shipments against documentation and inspecting goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections or report maintenance needs to ensure all machinery operates safely and effectively. Perform pre-shift equipment inspections on crane and forklift; report maintenance issues promptly
- Follow OSHA standards and warehouse safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing materials, stacking pallets, and ensuring proper manual handling techniques are used for heavy lifting tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe loading area
Qualifications
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain company certification)
- Prior crane operation experience (overhead, bridge, or mobile crane) required
- Experience with rigging and load securement, especially for steel/metal building materials, preferred
- Ability to read shipping documents, tape measures, and load diagrams
- Strong attention to detail and safety-first mindset
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of warehouse operations including inventory management, order picking, shipping & receiving procedures.
- Strong understanding of safety standards such as OSHA regulations related to forklift safety protocols and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining proper ergonomic practices.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts and order accuracy verification.

- Comfortable operating equipment in a fast-paced yard/warehouse environment

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
