Position Purpose
The Mechanic’s primary purpose is to complete vehicle maintenance and service.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Completes repairs and service work with accuracy
· Ensures vehicles have adequate fluids and are safe to operate
· Communicates with drivers and Lead Mechanic on vehicle repairs and safety requirements
· Picks up parts and fluids for vehicles
· Responds to emergency break-downs
· Reports all accidents, near misses and safety violations
· Keeps truck cabs neat and tidy
· Completes work orders
· Utilizes tools safely and accurately
· Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Current driver’s license
· Strong mechanical abilities with Class A trucks
· Experience as a Class A CDL driver preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
· Ability to read a map or receive directions over the phone
· Ability to work under extreme stress and small spaces
· Ability to multi-task and easily problem solve during high stress situations
· Knowledge of company’s general systems, policies and business practices
Physical Requirements
· All work is performed in extreme temperature environments. Incumbent will be exposed to loud noises, extreme cold or heat, rain, snow, sleet, hail, wind, dust, mud and uneven ground surfaces.
· Incumbent may stand for long periods of time
· Incumbent will lift weights up to 50 pounds and must lift, push, pull and hold heavy objects
· Incumbent will climb stairs, bend, stretch and twist side to side daily
· Excellent hand-eye coordination and ability to hear approaching vehicles
