EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing is required, and two (2) years of supervised experience in a mental health treatment setting is preferred. Will attend Case Management II training, obtain certificate, and will maintain all CEU’s for this certificate yearly.
Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing therapy, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Skill in planning and organizing nursing and supplies; in following oral and written directions; in maintaining therapeutic relationships with consumers; in maintaining effective working relationships with other nursing personnel.
Good knowledge of administration and effects of commonly used medications, particularly psychotropic medication.
Good knowledge of facilities, services and practitioners in the local medical community.
Skill in administering medication including giving injections.
An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible and immediately supervised by the assigned Integrated Health Services Administrator.
This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:
As prescribed by the health care provider, administers oral and injectable medications; performs other nursing treatments and procedures in accordance with approved nursing techniques, Oklahoma licensing laws, and health care provider orders.
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to monitor consumers progress and to detect reactions to drugs, treatments, and environmental changes; evaluates status of consumers through visual examination. Provides consumers with a list of their medications, provides medication education to help facilitate compliance. Documents in consumers medical record any other pertinent information. Updates physical medications consumer is taking and document in EMR.
