Overview
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting parts and materials to customers and dealers on schedule while maintaining accuracy and accountability throughout the delivery process. This role involves operating a company vehicle, conducting vehicle inspections, verifying orders, and documenting deliveries with strong attention to detail. The Delivery Driver serves as a key point of contact between the company and its customers, communicating delivery status and resolving discrepancies as they arise. Success in this position requires reliability, independence, and strong organizational and communication skills. This is a full-time, non-exempt role offering consistent weekday hours.
About General Trailer Parts
General Trailer Parts is a trailer manufacturing facility headquartered in Springfield, Oregon. We operate an integrated production process that begins with raw material and flows through cutting, burning, forming, and drilling before advancing to fit-up and weld-out. Finished products proceed to the paint shop, followed by final assembly, quality control, and delivery to the customer. Our internal service department rounds out our full-cycle manufacturing capabilities. We operate a retail parts shop in both Springfield, OR, and Redding, CA, to support the ongoing needs of our customers.
Primary Duties
- Safely operate a company vehicle to deliver parts and materials to customers and dealers on schedule.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
- Load, unload, and secure parts and materials to prevent damage during transport.
- Verify delivery orders against packing slips or invoices to ensure accuracy before and after delivery.
- Obtain delivery signatures and document any discrepancies or damaged items upon drop-off.
- Communicate with shipping/receiving and parts staff regarding delivery status or delays; relay to assigned sales representative or directly to the customer.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and records.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with General Trailer’s auto insurance requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support team and company goals.
Skills and Abilities
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a delivery vehicle in varying conditions.
- Ability to transport parts and materials up to 70lbs.
- Strong attention to detail for verifying orders and documenting deliveries.
- Good communication skills with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.
- Ability to use GPS navigation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of delivery driving experience.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Must meet minimum requirements to be insurable under the company's auto insurance policy.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
