Position Purpose: The Nurse is responsible for all Nursing related services for each patient and for linking patients to the physicians and to outside medical resources. They participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Meetings when necessary to inform the clinical team about medical issues and are available for emergency medical situations. The Nurse provides all services under the supervision of the Director of Medical Services. The Nurse is responsible for providing medical & history screens, providing routine nursing care and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending physician. They are also a member of the Treatment Team and provide input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan.
Position Specific Competencies:
1. Completes the following documentation within 24 hours of the patient/Client admission to the program:
a. Nursing Assessment
b. Pre-screen Testing
c. HIV/TB Risk Screen
d. Patient Health Examination
e. Criteria for admission Form (if Detox Admit).
f. Obtain and follow Physician Admission Orders.
2. Conduct POC (point of care cup urinalysis), pregnancy, and breathalyzer test.
3. Perform comprehensive vitals check
4. Perform medication education to ensure the patient/client has been educated on their medication prescriptions, changes, doses, side effects, etc.
5. Performs medication administration with patients/clients and documents as required.
6. Recognize, respond to, take responsibility for, and/or assist with medical emergencies.
7. Verbal De-escalation and Crisis Management. Recognizes, responds to, and assists in psychiatric crisis situations.
Position Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
1. Core:
a. Monitors patients/clients, during the detoxification process, taking the necessary actions to alert Medical Providers, Director of Medical Services, and/or Clinical Team as appropriate and documents accordingly.
b. Ensures infection control practices and reporting procedures are in place
c. Responsible for taking positive toxicology results from POC and investigate results
d. Responsible for entering each toxicology order for all patients/clients.
e. Assess and record patients’/Clients’ symptoms and health related complaints.
f. Maintains communication with Doctors/Providers
g. Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with Facility’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with Facility’s policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
h. Bring all significant patient/Client questions, concerns, and complaints to the attention of the therapist and/or administrative staff.
i. Adhere to policies and procedures.
j. Prompt and regular attendance.
k. Perform/complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
2. Administrative:
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
- Maintain neat, written logs on patients’/Clients’ activities.
- Complete all applicable paperwork i.e. medical logs, shift reports, MARS, etc.
d. Check and respond to work emails regularly every shift.
e. Utilize Microsoft Suite/Google Suite of applications for documents, email, sharing of forms, etc.
f. Answer work phone, messages, verbal, and written request in a timely manner.
g. Clock in and out utilizing time tracking system at beginning and end of shift and as required for breaks.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
1. Education: No specific education requirement.
2. Experience:
a. A minimum of 1 year experience as a LPN preferably in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in a detox unit and/or inpatient, partial hospitalization, and/or outpatient setting.
b. Experience delivering Health Education Classes preferred.
3. Certification/Licensure:
a. Clear and Active FL or Multi-state LPN License Required
b. CPR/AED and/or BLS certification and required to maintain.
4. Training and Knowledge Required at Time of Hire:
a. Knowledge of addiction and mental health issues and complications.
b. Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that may include, but not limited to:
i. Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
ii. Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
iii. Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action when necessary.
iv. Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
v. Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to take appropriate action at each stage.
vi. Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addition, including, but not limited to:
1. Confidentiality
2. Patient Rights
3. Professional Code of Ethics
4. Discrimination.
vii. Knowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens (i.e., TB, HIV, HepB, etc)
5. Age Specific Individuals Served/Responsibility: Adults (18+ years)
6. Security Measures and Clearance: Approved AHCA Level 2 screening required and local background.

7. Employment Classification: Part-time hourly, Full-time Hourly (non-exempt), or Contracted 1099.
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
