We’re excited to share that our clinic is looking for a Front Office Patient Care Coordinator to join our team!
Pay Range: $24-$28 hr. DOE
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch
Position Summary
Alaska Colorectal Surgery is looking for a highly organized, patient-focused Patient Care Coordinator to support clinic operations following our transition to AthenaOne. This key, in-house role coordinates patient information, documents, scheduling, and clinic communication to ensure smooth workflows between providers, front desk staff, billing teams, and remote team members in a fast-paced surgical clinic environment. The Patient Care Coordinator serves as an important point of contact for patients while helping maintain efficient daily clinic operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care & Navigation
- Assist patients with scheduling and coordination of care at front desk
- Ensure timely resolution of patient concerns
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with general clinic questions
- Assist patients with billing questions and direct concerns appropriately
- Support medical records requests and patient documentation needs
- Verify and validate insurance information for accuracy and eligibility
Document Management
- Monitor AthenaOne document queues (faxes, scans, uploads)
- Index, route, and prioritize patient documents
- Help process incoming and outgoing clinic documents efficiently
- Communicate with referral personnel to assist with referral processes
- Ensure documentation is completed and routed appropriately within AthenaOne
Clinic Operations & Schedule Coordination
- Coordinate clinic schedule changes and provider availability
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently
- Ensure AthenaOne schedules are accurate and current
- Communicate updates to front desk and remote schedulers
- Assist front desk staff with daily operational support as needed
- Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment
AthenaOne Workflow Support
- Assist with AthenaOne workflow support
- Maintain workflow consistency across clinic operations
- Help identify workflow issues and communicate solutions to leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of healthcare administration experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- EMR proficiency, preferably with AthenaOne
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced medical office environment
- Strong customer service and patient communication skills
- Experience with scheduling, insurance validation, and medical office workflows preferred
