Lead Store Associate
York Grocery Outlet is looking for a motivated, dependable Lead Store Associate to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys staying active, leading by example, and helping drive the daily success of the store.
As a Lead Store Associate, you'll help oversee daily operations while providing outstanding customer service, supporting fellow team members, and ensuring our store is clean, organized, and fully stocked. Every day is different, and we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and flexibility are essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Serve as a key holder and assist with overall store operations.
- Operate cash registers, provide register overrides, and ensure excellent customer service.
- Reconcile employee tills and complete nightly cash balancing procedures.
- Stock shelves, merchandise displays, rotate products, and maintain department presentation.
- Receive and unload freight while ensuring products are stocked efficiently throughout the store.
- Maintain accurate inventory through proper rotation, organization, and shrink control.
- Train, coach, and support associates while leading by example.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing new team members.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized shopping environment for customers and employees.
- Jump into any area of the store as business needs require.
Qualifications
- Previous retail leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Grocery or high-volume retail experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience operating POS systems and handling cash accurately.
- Comfortable coaching employees and providing excellent customer service.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Must have open availability between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, and climb ladders throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments as needed.
