POSITION SUMMARY: The Content Specialist responsible for the development, selection and implementation of curriculum development of activities appropriate for the participants physical, social-emotional and academic growth. The Content Specialist will report directly to the Program Director and Director of School-Based Programs. Assist in training Instructors and other pertinent staff on curriculum presentation requirements, objectives, expectations, and desired outcomes. Employees are responsible for complying with all UAU standards.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Create, implement, design and evaluate educational curriculum enrichment lesson plans based on after school programmatic needs as defined within the DYCD approved work scope.

Prepare lesson plans varying from remediation instruction to tutoring.

Develop and train staff on DYCD frameworks and education principles, classroom management, differentiation of learning, etc.

Maintain records of achievement as directed by the Program Director.

Work closely with the Program Director to coordinate curriculum needs, lesson planning, identifying training needs and any additional applicable programmatic needs.
- Formulate pre and post assessments relative to the approved educational curriculum.
- Supervise any academic interventions.

Demonstrate positive leadership and act as a positive role model to participants and staff members.
- Abide by all compliance and safety protocols as outlined by the NYC Department of Health, NYC Department of Education, OCFS, DYCD and UAU.

Participate in ongoing professional development

Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field
- Required – Minimum 1 year of experience working with less than 13 years of age children in a classroom setting

Required - Minimum 1 year of experience teaching, training, coaching or facilitating teaching
- Required - Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in childcare program
- Must be culturally competent - ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures

Must pass reference and background checks

Ability to conduct and complete work independently
- Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed
