Under the general supervision of the school principal, the Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher plans, organizes, and delivers effective mathematics instruction designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and problem-solving abilities needed for success in middle school and beyond.
The teacher provides instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, district curriculum expectations, and the individual needs of students.

Provides engaging learning experiences that develop mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, computation, and conceptual understanding.

Uses a variety of instructional strategies, materials, technology, and assessments to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Provides whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction as appropriate.

Differentiates instruction based on student readiness, achievement data, learning needs, and interests.

Uses formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.

Participates in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, professional development, data teams, and school improvement activities.

Selects, uses, and maintains appropriate instructional materials, resources, and equipment.

Supervises students during classroom and non-classroom activities.

Participates in school and district committees, student activities, and other duties as assigned.

Maintains professional conduct and complies with all Rutherford County Schools policies, procedures, and expectations.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Valid or eligible for a North Carolina teaching license in one of the following areas:

Middle Grades Mathematics, Grades 6–9; or
-
Elementary Education.

Successful completion of all required background checks.

Experience teaching mathematics or working with middle school students preferred.

Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for middle grades mathematics.

Knowledge of effective mathematics instructional practices, assessment strategies, and differentiated instruction.

Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and accurately.

Ability to use student-performance data to plan and adjust instruction.

Ability to manage instructional time effectively.
