Senior Engineering & Test Systems Technician | Tucson, AZ
The Mission:
At Dataforth, our products are only as good as the systems that test and support them. We are seeking a Senior Engineering & Test Systems Technician to serve as the primary right hand to our Design Engineering staff. In this role, you won't just follow instructions—you will proactively manage the lifecycle of our hardware, from initial EMC characterization in the lab to the deep-dive troubleshooting of complex failures on the manufacturing floor.

You will be integrated into a lean, elite engineering team with a Burr-Brown heritage. You will have significant responsibility for maintaining the integrity of our "Instrument Class" production environment, managing legacy test fixtures, and ensuring our newest designs are ready for the global market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Engineering Support: Assist Analog and Embedded designers with precision prototyping, PCB modifications (fine-pitch soldering), and complex breadboarding.
- EMC & Compliance Testing: Support the engineering team during Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and environmental testing. Setup, execute, and document test runs to ensure compliance with global industrial standards.
- Manufacturing Failure Analysis: Act as the "detective" on the production floor. Characterize and troubleshoot complex product failures to the component level, identifying whether issues stem from components, design, or process.
- Test Fixture Stewardship: Maintain and repair both legacy and next-generation production test heads and fixtures. Ensure all electro-mechanical jigs are calibrated and performing at peak reliability.
- Data & Software Maintenance: Support the maintenance of production test software and databases. Ensure test results are accurately captured and that software updates are deployed across the manufacturing floor without downtime.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Education: An Associate’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (ASEET) or a BSEE. We prioritize candidates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a demonstrated passion for electronics.
- Technical Mastery: 5+ years of experience in a high-precision electronics environment. You must be an expert with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and precision DMMs.
- Software Savvy: Experience or familiarity with test software (LabVIEW, C++, or similar) and basic database management.
- Independence: You are a self-motivated professional who doesn't need a daily checklist. You see a problem, you analyze it, and you fix it.
- Precision Mindset: You understand that in "Instrument Class" electronics, there is no room for "close enough."

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
