American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical night shift position, requiring Cerner proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
-
Medical/Surgical unit located directly adjacent to the Emergency Department
-
Patients include observation and clinical decision-type cases requiring overnight stays and further workup, with diagnoses such as COVID, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and other symptom-based presentations
-
Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Every other weekend required
-
Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital required

Cerner EMR experience required
-
Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS (AHA or RQI accepted) and NIHSS certifications required
-
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
-
Proficiency in starting IVs and nasal cannula oxygen delivery required
-
Cerner charting experience required
-
Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required

2 supervisor references required for consideration
-
SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs; training and resources will be provided

Preferred skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and previous charge nurse experience

Indiana residents are considered local candidates and are not eligible for this position

Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler

Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break

Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

RTO is not available for the following periods: Memorial Day weekend, Father's Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
