The Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS® (ICAAR) is seeking a creative, organized, and collaborative Communications Director to lead the association's marketing, communications, and member engagement efforts. From social media and graphic design to podcast production, event marketing, and public relations, you'll help shape how our organization connects with members and the community.
What You’ll Do:
Communications Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that supports the association's mission, strategic goals, and member engagement.
Content Creation: Create compelling content across all communication channels, including email campaigns, newsletters, social media, marketing materials, presentations, videos, photography, and member resources.
Podcast & Digital Media: Produce the association's monthly podcast from planning through publication, coordinate with videographers and guests, and create engaging multimedia content for members.
Website & Digital Presence: Maintain and update the association website, coordinate with outside vendors on enhancements, and help ensure a strong and consistent digital presence.
Public Relations: Write and distribute press releases, coordinate media opportunities, and promote the association, REALTORS®, and homeownership throughout the community.
Brand Management: Maintain a consistent, professional, and modern brand identity across all communications and marketing materials.
Events & Member Engagement: Promote educational programs, networking events, advocacy initiatives, and member programs through creative marketing, event communications, signage, photography, and on-site support.
Committee Support: Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees by preparing agendas, meeting materials, minutes, and follow-up communications.
Collaboration & Member Service: Deliver exceptional customer service while working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, members, and community partners. Contribute to special projects and support the team wherever needed.
The position requires someone who can take ownership of projects, work independently, take and apply constructive feedback, and meet tight deadlines.
What We’re Looking For:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong graphic design and content creation abilities.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design software.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines
- A proactive, solution-oriented attitude with excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work with a wide range of individuals and personality-types
- Bonus, Not Expected: Experience in real estate, trade organizations, or association management.

Schedule, Compensation, Work Environment, and Physical Demands:
- Full-time, salaried, exempt from overtime. Hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, plus occasional early morning/evening/weekend hours for special events. Salary commensurate with experience and market wages, plus a generous benefits package including medical, dental, paid holidays, PTO, retirement, and more.
- Please note that ICAAR employees may not have an active real estate license, nor can they accept or give real estate-related referrals.
- Work on-site at our Coralville office. Local candidates preferred. No relocation available.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time, lift, and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds, and stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time, speak concisely and effectively communicate, have the visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
