Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to join the team at McKinley Elementary. The ideal candidate will foster a love for physical activity and wellness among students, promoting healthy lifestyles and teamwork through engaging and age-appropriate physical education programs. This full-time position requires a commitment to the development of students' physical skills, confidence, and social abilities in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, motor skills, and teamwork.
- Create lesson plans that are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to the diverse needs of students.
- Assess and evaluate students’ physical abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Foster a positive and safe learning environment where students feel comfortable participating and expressing themselves.
- Organize and lead physical activities, games, and sports that encourage cooperation and sportsmanship.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate physical education with other subjects and school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and ways to support physical activity at home.
- Stay updated on best practices in physical education and child development through professional development opportunities.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as required to support the overall mission of McKinley Elementary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- State certification or licensure in Physical Education for elementary education.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in an elementary school setting, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, practices, and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning styles.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to promoting health and wellness among students.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
