American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience, with night shift hours and regional floating requirements.

Work in a 27-bed Medical Telemetry unit with an average census of 20 patients
-
Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
-
Patient ratios are 1:5-6 depending on acuity, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8

EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
-
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – peds only); candidates must be agreeable to floating to all facilities in the region

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Required skills include stroke experience and NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)

Proficiency with medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF

Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration

Advanced Primary Stroke Center designation; no trauma designation and not a teaching hospital

Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (who may or may not carry a patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring/tech; unit receptionist/HUC available on day shift only

Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to cover 75% of holidays
