Overview
We are a Pediatric dental office and seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Office Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. 2 years of experience is preferred, but we will train the right person. It is very important for us to find someone who provides excellent customer service, has a good work ethic, and is a quick learner.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of dental administrative procedures, and a commitment to providing outstanding patient service. This role involves managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate records within a fast-paced clinical environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, billing, and office management to support seamless clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using dental practice management software.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including health insurance knowledge and Medicare procedures.
- Collect and process payments, perform medical collections, and handle billing inquiries efficiently.
- Maintain and update patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing proper phone etiquette and effective communication skills.
- Review documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and care plans to ensure proper billing and recordkeeping.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating appointment flow and facilitating smooth office operations.
- Uphold confidentiality policies related to medical records and clinical information in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred; dental office experience is a significant advantage.
- Strong knowledge of billing, insurance verification processes, and health information management systems
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and recordkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for administrative support tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and healthcare compliance policies including HIPAA standards.
- Demonstrated clerical experience with multi-line phone systems, filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and office management tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and health information management.
