VARSITY WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH
OnTECH Charter High School is a tuition-free, welcoming charter high school in Syracuse, NY, dedicated to finding the GENIUS in every scholar we serve. We're looking for a passionate, dedicated, and scholar-centered Varsity Women's Volleyball Coach to lead our program for the upcoming Fall athletic season.
The right candidate will build a competitive volleyball program that reflects the OnTECH community — one that puts scholars first and grows leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth alongside academic success.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and supervise all team practices, contests, and team activities.
- Teach and develop volleyball fundamentals, skills, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Build a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture where every scholar-athlete feels they belong.
- Monitor scholar-athletes' academic progress and hold the team accountable to OnTECH's standard of college, career, and life readiness.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, families, school personnel, officials, and opposing schools.
- Maintain compliance with all OnTECH Charter High School, Section III, and NYSPHSAA rules and regulations.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and athletic department events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous volleyball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to connect with and support high school-aged scholars.
- Must be eligible for appointment as a coach through the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a TEACH account through NYSED.
Required Certifications (Current or Obtained Prior to Employment):
- CPR/AED Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Concussion Management Certification
- DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Training
- Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Certification
- School Violence Prevention and Intervention Certification
Compensation: Contractor salary based on experience and coaching salary schedule.
