Job Overview
The Spartan Group is seeking dependable Armed Traffic Control Officers to manage vehicle and pedestrian flow while maintaining a visible armed security presence at construction sites, utility work zones, roadway closures, and special events across the Greater Nashville area.
This is a full-time, outdoor role requiring comfort working in all weather conditions, strong situational awareness, and a consistent commitment to safety and professionalism.
Schedule & Compensation
● Pay: $23.00/hour
● Employment: Full-time
● Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift
● Hours: Typically 6:00–7:00 AM start, 4:00–6:00 PM end (varies by assignment)
● Note: No part-time, night, or weekend shifts available
● Pay Cycle: Weekly direct deposit every Friday
Work Environment
● Fully outdoor work in all weather conditions
● Extended standing and walking in or near active roadways
● Multiple job sites across the Greater Nashville area
● Reliable personal transportation required due to rotating assignments
Responsibilities
● Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely and efficiently
● Maintain an armed security presence to protect workers and the public
● Enforce traffic control plans and safety procedures
● Respond to incidents, emergencies, and conflicts professionally
● Operate handheld radios and other communication tools
● Complete reports and maintain accurate documentation
● Coordinate with supervisors, clients, law enforcement, and emergency personnel as needed
● Represent The Spartan Group with professionalism and strong customer service
Requirements
● Valid Tennessee Armed Security License (required)
● ATSSA Traffic Control Certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days
● Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
● Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform job duties
● Reliable transportation to various job sites in the Greater Nashville area
● Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
