Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation, including slicing, chopping, and assembling ingredients following established recipes and standards
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, mixers, fryers, and food processors
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene by adhering to sanitation protocols and cleaning schedules
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients and suggesting improvements based on operational needs
- Ensure accurate food handling and portion control to meet quality standards and minimize waste
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production, serving times, and special dietary requests
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding order status, ingredient availability, and safety procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience in a food service environment or restaurant setting is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dietary department practices or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and knife handling—including slicing techniques—are essential
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently is required
- Understanding of food safety management practices and safety standards in production processes
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and ensure consistent meal quality
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel
- Experience in catering or large-scale meal service is advantageous
- A proactive attitude towards cleanliness, organization, and maintaining a safe work environment
